During my time working at RightFit (https://www.rightfit.it/) a technology company focused on developing tools to enhance the staffing process, I worked on an end-user testing project to determine how user were interacting with a web-based tool that had been developed in house. My goal was to identify and address problem areas and bugs.
The tool was meant for job-seekers to find and apply to jobs using an enhanced visualization algorithm called a foam tree. I created a simple set of instructions that asked the user to interact with the tool in certain ways. For example "search for a job in your preferred location". The users would follow the instructions and interact with the program. I would record their screen and take notes as they interacted with the program. Afterwards the users would answer a Qualtrics survey that asked them to rate the program. Finally I conducted two separate focus group of about 8 people in each session with users that had interacted with the program and had them discuss their experience with the program.
After going through this process it was determined that users encountered certain problem areas frequently, thus they had to be addressed. I presented my results and recommendations to the development team for correcting and the program was improved.
Below I present screen shots of the presentation and survey results

The survey asked users to input their comments at the end of the survey and these are some of their thoughts.

One of the questions had a screenshot of the features of the program and we asked users if it was supposed to be a search bar or a filtering bar, and most users answered incorrectly thinking it was a search bar. Therefore, we communicated this common user misunderstanding to the development team for correction.
