Building Houses | Honduras 2011
Houses and schools are essential infrastructures needed in every community. In Honduras many people live below the poverty line and don't have homes. The government's budget falls short on education as well, thus many schools are well below acceptable standards to operate. Students Helping Honduras builds houses and schools for these communities to improve. This was during a winter break. We mixed concrete and laid new floors for this school damaged by floods so they could reopen their doors to the students.

Teaching | Honduras 2013
Education is important. So is speaking the English, the language of business. I volunteered as an English and Art teacher at this school that caters to low-income families in Honduras. It was no easy task to teach a full class of hyperactive 8 year olds. However, I did my best helping them learn to read, write and speak English. It was no easy task, however it was a rewarding experience. I treasure the thank you notes they wrote and drew for me.

Many of the families who live below the poverty line in Honduras can't afford to get christmas gifts for their children. Along with a group of my friends, we raised some money and bought toys, candy and a pinata for these kids living off the edge of the river in cardboard houses. I was behind the camera taking these pictures. However, I remember feeling like I wanted to smile and cry at the same time when these barefooted kids and ragged clothes jumped in joy when we handed them the items.
